Day and Night roller blinds on plastic windows in Kharkiv

Day & Night roller blinds on plastic windows — one of ZAMER's completed projects

Zebra Roller Blinds

What are Day & Night blinds and how do they work

Day & Night roller blinds, also known as vision blinds or zebra blinds, feature a double layer of fabric with alternating transparent and opaque horizontal stripes. As the fabric moves, the stripes overlap, allowing smooth adjustment of light levels in the room.

Unlike standard roller blinds, you don't need to fully raise the blind every time. You can adjust the position of the stripes to let in more daylight or create a more private environment. This is a practical solution for plastic windows in apartments, houses, offices, or commercial spaces.

Useful Information

Frequently Asked Questions About Day & Night Blinds

How do Day & Night blinds differ from standard roller blinds?

Standard roller blinds feature a single solid piece of fabric, while Day & Night systems use a double layer with alternating sheer and opaque stripes. By shifting the stripes, you can adjust light without lifting the blind.

Can Day & Night blinds be installed directly on plastic windows?

Yes. Systems are custom-made to fit specific window sashes and can be installed directly onto each individual sash.

Which is better — an open roll or a cassette system?

Open systems offer a simpler design at a more accessible price point. In cassette systems, the roller tube is enclosed in a headbox, and fabric moves along side guide channels. Choice depends on window structure, budget, and visual preference.

How much do Day & Night blinds cost?

Prices start at 1480 UAH/m². Final pricing depends on product size, fabric collection, system type, and hardware accessories.

How do I care for Day & Night fabric?

For regular cleaning, dry dusting with a soft brush or vacuuming on low power is sufficient. Spot stains can be gently cleaned using a slightly damp cloth.

FAQ

We provide answers to frequently asked questions

What is the difference between blinds and roller blinds (roller shades)?

While both systems provide excellent sun protection, they have fundamental differences in design and functionality:

Construction: Blinds consist of individual horizontal or vertical slats (lamellas). Roller shades (roller blinds) are made of a solid piece of fabric that rolls up onto a metal tube (valance).
Light Control: With blinds, you can tilt the angle of the slats to precisely diffuse incoming light. Roller shades are adjusted only vertically (up or down).
Aesthetics and Comfort: Roller shades offer a more "homey" and cozy feel due to the vast selection of fabrics: from semi-transparent to 100% Blackout. Traditional blinds are often associated with a more formal, office-style look.
Maintenance: ZAMER roller blinds feature a special anti-static coating, which means they collect significantly less dust compared to blind slats.

Which one to choose? If you need total darkness for sleeping — choose roller shades. If it’s important to see what is happening outside while remaining invisible to others — choose blinds.

What types of roller blinds are there?

Shades and shutters are divided into two main categories: interior sun protection and exterior security. At ZAMER, we offer:

✔ Fabric Roller Blinds — stylish interior window treatments. Available in open systems or closed systems with side tracks. Perfect for light filtering or 100% blackout.
✔ Security Shutters (Roller Shutters) — installed on the exterior of windows, doors, or garages. Made from durable aluminum or steel. Provide security, noise reduction, and thermal insulation.
✔ Motorized Shutters & Blinds — automated systems controlled via remote, smartphone, or wall switch. Manual operation options are also available for all systems.

What is the lifespan of ZAMER blinds and roller shutters?

The average lifespan of ZAMER blinds and shutters ranges from 7 to 15 years, depending on the system type, materials, and usage conditions.

Estimated lifespan by category:

⏳ Fabric Roller Blinds (incl. Day-Night): 8–10 years. Our fabrics feature anti-static coatings that keep them clean and fresh longer.
🛡️ Security Shutters: over 15 years. These are the most durable systems, made from high-grade aluminum resistant to all weather conditions.
💎 Venus Blinds & Wooden Systems: 10–12 years. Reliable Besta hardware ensures smooth mechanism operation.

We stand by our quality with a 12-month warranty and full after-sales service in Kharkiv, Kyiv, Dnipro, Odesa, and Poltava.

Can blinds or roller shutters be installed by yourself?

Yes, you can easily do it yourself! More than 90% of our customers across Ukraine successfully install ZAMER systems on their own, saving on installation costs.

Why DIY installation with ZAMER is simple:

📦 Pre-assembled: All products arrive fully assembled. You don't need to put the mechanism together — just secure the brackets to the window.
🔧 Easy Mounting: You only need a screwdriver or a power drill. The process takes about 10–20 minutes per window.
📞 Tech Support: If you have any questions during installation, our specialist is available for a professional phone consultation.

For those who value their time, our professional teams provide "turnkey" installation in Kharkiv, Kyiv, Dnipro, Odesa, and Poltava with an official warranty.

What are the different types of blinds and how to choose the right one?

Blinds vary by material, slat type, and mounting method. At ZAMER, we offer 4 main solutions:

Vertical Blinds — Feature wide fabric slats. They visually increase ceiling height. Best for large windows, offices, and room partitions.
Horizontal Blinds — Classic aluminum or wood slats. Sleek, durable, and easy to clean. Perfect for home offices and kitchens.
Venus Blinds — A premium integrated system for PVC windows. Mounted directly into the window bead, they stay flush with the glass and don't interfere with the handle or opening.
Plisse Shades (Pleated Blinds) — Accordion-style fabric. The only solution for non-standard window shapes (arches, triangles, skylights). Unique "top-down/bottom-up" operation available.

Available Materials:

Aluminum: Moisture and sun-resistant (office/kitchen classic).
Wood & Bamboo: High-end eco-style for living rooms or executive offices.
Fabric: Provides soft, decorative light filtering.

Can I choose the color and material to match my interior?

Absolutely. At ZAMER, you can select the color, texture, and fabric type to perfectly match any interior — from classic and loft to modern minimalism.

We offer over 500 fabric and material options: ranging from budget-friendly solid colors to exclusive weaves like linen, bamboo, and metallic finishes. Popular shades such as anthracite, beige, concrete grey, and natural wood are always in stock.

Service options for customers across Ukraine:

→ Online Consultation: We send high-quality photos and videos of fabrics under natural daylight via Viber or Telegram so you can see the true color.
→ Opacity Selection: We’ll help you choose the right light filtering level — from sheer fabrics to 100% Blackout.
→ On-site Catalog: In Kharkiv, Dnipro, Odesa, Kyiv, and Poltava, our specialist will bring the full sample collection directly to your location for easy matching.

ZAMER stands for custom manufacturing, ensuring every window treatment complements your home's unique style.

Is it difficult to care for blinds?

Not at all.
Modern ZAMER blinds and roller blinds are designed for easy maintenance and long-lasting cleanliness.

🔸 Fabric roller blinds only need to be gently wiped with a dry or slightly damp soft cloth. There’s no need to remove or wash the fabric — it’s treated with an antistatic coating that repels dust.
🔸 Aluminum and plastic blinds can be cleaned with a damp sponge or vacuum with a soft brush.
🔸 Wooden blinds should be dusted using a soft cloth or brush — no water needed.

The key rule — avoid harsh chemicals, which can damage the coating.

Thanks to high-quality materials, ZAMER blinds are easy to care for and keep their fresh, clean appearance for years.

How long does it take to manufacture my order?

We value your time and strictly adhere to deadlines. Production time depends on the system type and complexity:

🕒 Fabric Roller Blinds and Blinds: 3–5 business days.
🏗️ Security Shutters and Gates: 5–7 business days (depending on profile and automation).
🎨 Custom Solutions: (motorization, non-standard shapes) — up to 10–14 business days.

Once production is complete, our manager will contact you to arrange installation in Kharkiv, Kyiv, Dnipro, Odesa, or Poltava or for immediate Nova Poshta shipping across Ukraine.

ZAMER — speed, precision, and reliability in every order.
